Preserving a “Safe Space” for Self-Discovery, Learning, and Growth

When Jennifer Price ’84 was deciding where to attend high school, her parents empowered her to make the final decision. Of all the institutions Jennifer was accepted to, she says she felt the strongest connection with Northfield Mount Hermon. And she never looked back.

“I loved going to NMH,” she remembers fondly. “My time there was four of the best years of my life.”

For Jennifer, NMH was an institution that fostered her independence and encouraged her to discover her true self. “NMH gave me a safe space to be myself,” she reflects, “not what others thought I should be.” Jennifer’s experience at NMH provided her with invaluable opportunities, including the freedom to learn, grow, explore, and create the future she envisioned for herself. It also equipped her with problem-solving skills she would call upon again and again as life threw challenges her way.

Jennifer decided to include NMH in her estate plan to give back to an institution she cares so deeply about. “You don’t have to be extremely wealthy to make an impactful gift,” she says. “You can tailor the plan that works for your financial situation.”

Jennifer’s love for the school and appreciation for the opportunities it afforded her inspired her to give back to support future students so they may enjoy the same freedom to explore and grow as she had. “I always knew I wanted to give back,” she says. “My hope is for future students to have the same opportunity I did to learn, be true to themselves, and forge a path to the future they want.”
