“Northfield Mount Hermon Brought the World to Me”: How One Alumnus Found Community, Hope, and Direction at NMH
Geoffrey Locke ’86 grew up in a small New Hampshire town. “Northfield Mount Hermon brought the world to me,” he reflects.
Now an accomplished psychotherapist and clinical social worker, Geoffrey attributes much of his success to his experience at Northfield Mount Hermon—where he learned the value of not only education but the importance of shared community as well.
“Many of my classmates have become lifelong friends and some of the most important people in my life,” Geoffrey shares warmly. An active volunteer, Geoffrey certainly found his community at NMH—and he continues to foster those connections today. Classmates call him a “tireless source of inspiration and energy” for the Class of 1986. He’s served as an ambassador for the school, a class reunion organizer, and a class secretary, and he’s an annual fund donor.
Geoffrey has taken his appreciation for the school to the next level by including NMH in his will and designated NMH as a beneficiary of his retirement account. Geoffrey hopes his planned gifts will enable future students to benefit not only from an NMH education as he has but from the support of its wider community as well.
“NMH will always have a place in my heart,” Geoffrey says, “and I want to ensure that the school continues to provide a first-rate education to future generations.”
